Basketball Recap: Jesse Sarana Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Central Regional

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Manchester Township's strategy against Central Regional on Tuesday. The Manchester Township Hawks were the clear victor by a 55-30 margin over the Central Regional Golden Eagles. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Hawks had established a 23 point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Manchester Township to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jesse Sarana, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Sarana a new career-high in steals. Madeline Nolan was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 19 points along with five boards and three steals.

Manchester Township smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups.

Manchester Township is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Central Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester Township will take on Donovan Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Central Regional, they will face off against Toms River East at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
