Softball Recap: Freeman Wins Going Away Against Riverside

The matchup between Freeman and Riverside on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Freeman Scotties put the hurt on the Riverside Rams with a sharp 23-5 win. The Scotties have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.

Kaylee Ripke was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ripke was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Isabel Silva was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Maggie Leeper, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Freeman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Freeman and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freeman will take on Medical Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Medical Lake will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Freeman surely won't give up without a fight. As for Riverside, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Newport at 4:00 p.m. on March 27th.
