Softball Recap: Ravenscroft Comes Up Short at Home Against Franklin Academy

Ravenscroft unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 21-8 to the Franklin Academy Patriots on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Cole MacKinnon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Macie Mackinnon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Ravenscroft was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin Academy only posted a batting average of .227.

Franklin Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Ravenscroft wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 30-20 loss against Wake Christian Academy on the 7th. Franklin Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Ravenscroft at 4:00 p.m. on March 19th.
