Football Recap: Maine South Skates Past Addison Trail with Ease

Maine South came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 39-6 win over the Addison Trail Blazers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Blazers are ranked 120th).

One reason for the win was Maine South's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Addison Trail's QB won't forget Kristen Sumang anytime soon given she sacked her four times.

Maine South's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Addison Trail, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Maine South will face off against rival Lane Tech at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Hawks 6.5, the Champions 7.3) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Addison Trail is set to challenge their familiar foe Downers Grove South at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
