Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Bears vs. Harper Creek Beavers

The St. Joseph Bears will take on the Harper Creek Beavers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph will be strutting in after a victory while Harper Creek will be coming in after a loss.

St. Joseph will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against East Lansing on Saturday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Trojans. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.

St. Joseph got a great performance from Henry Church as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bryce Vujtech, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Reece Crawford was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

St. Joseph kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Lansing only managed six hits.

Meanwhile, Harper Creek didn't have quite enough to beat Williamston on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Beavers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Harper Creek saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Bess, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Harper Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2-1. As for St. Joseph, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.
