Baseball Recap: Princeton Takes a Loss

If Princeton was feeling good fresh off their 16-6 takedown of Stanberry last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the North Harrison Shamrocks by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since May 12, 2025.

Mitchell Walker put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Princeton: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 2-3 otherwise. Walker was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Walker wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bowe Ussery, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Princeton is 2-1 when Ussery posts three or more hits, but 2-3 otherwise.

Princeton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for North Harrison, the win was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Princeton will welcome King City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Harrison, they will take on Gilman City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
