Preview: Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers vs. Hampshire Trojans
Buckhannon-Upshur is 4-0 against Hampshire since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the Hampshire Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Buckhannon-Upshur's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Musselman. While losing is never fun, Buckhannon-Upshur can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Musselman is ranked 20th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Brooklyn Smith, who scored eight points along with three steals. Casadie Lahman was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hampshire's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Ridge.
Buckhannon-Upshur's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. As for Hampshire, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Buckhannon-Upshur was able to grind out a solid victory over Hampshire when the teams last played back in February of 2016, winning 59-49. Will Buckhannon-Upshur repeat their success, or does Hampshire have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
