Basketball Game Preview: Baylor Red Raiders vs. Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish

The Baylor Red Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Baylor is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Baylor was beaten by Webb 65-36. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Spartans are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Knoxville Catholic came up short against Webb on Friday and fell 50-43.

Baylor will have to keep a close watch on Ensley Perry and Amaya Redd, a pair of players who had a big impact on Knoxville Catholic's prior game. Perry dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Redd dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards. That's the most boards Redd has posted since back in December of 2024.

Even though they lost, Knoxville Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Baylor's record now sits at 3-17. As for Knoxville Catholic, their record now sits at 14-13.

Baylor suffered a grim 69-43 defeat to Knoxville Catholic in their previous meeting back in January. Can Baylor avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
