Softball Recap: Smithfield-Selma Comes Up Short

Smithfield-Selma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 24-6 to the Hunt Warriors. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 18-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Smithfield-Selma's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Hunt, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithfield-Selma will take on Southeast Raleigh at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Smithfield-Selma has given up an average of 27.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Hunt, they will face off against Southern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
