Baseball Recap: Willard Comes Up Short

Willard extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-10. They lost 14-0 to the Clyde Fliers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Crimson Flashes of the 12-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Willard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roger Whetstone, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

As for Clyde, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Clyde's side, they got a big performance out of Colt Flores, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Flores a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Lantz, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willard will square off against Vermilion at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Clyde, they will venture away from home to square off against Perkins at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Fliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
