Baseball Recap: Hopewell Drops Highest Score of Season Against North Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hopewell). They came out on top against the North Catholic Trojans by a score of 8-4 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Trojans last Monday, they had to take a 5-1 defeat.

Kingston Krotec made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hopewell is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-6 otherwise. Krotec was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Collin Davis, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jacob Knobloch, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Hopewell's record is now 2-7. As for North Catholic, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell will face off against Serra Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for North Catholic, they will square off against Hampton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
