Perry is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Jones Longhorns will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Perry, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Jones' (thus far) undefeated season.

Despite the loss, Perry got top-tier performance from Andrew Kukuk, who rushed for 135 yards and a pair of TDs. The Maroons also got a significant boost from Asher Robinson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Meanwhile, Jones gave up the first points two weeks ago, but they didn't give up any more after. Everything went their way against Bethany as they made off with a 43-19 victory. Fans of the Longhorns have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Jones' win came from a few key players Perry will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jonquay Johnson, who rushed for 166 yards and two scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and one touchdown. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. Acyn Hansen was another key player, rushing for 64 yards and one TD on only nine carries.
