Basketball Recap: Springdale Prep Comes Up Short

After soaring to 70 points the game before, Springdale Prep was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 65-20 loss at the hands of the Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Warriors are ranked 14th).

Despite the loss, Springdale Prep saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zing Yinpobil posted seven points and eight rebounds. Yinpobil has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played.

Springdale Prep dropped their record down to 19-18 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-7.

Looking ahead, Springdale Prep will take on Edmondson-Westside at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue, they will face off against Tournament Opponent on February 14th.
