Softball Recap: Cheney Extends Home Winning Streak to 14

Cheney put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Belle Plaine Dragons with a sharp 17-2 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 11-1 victory on Friday.

Adelle Fouquet was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Frieden, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Cheney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Cheney's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Belle Plaine, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cheney will head out to face off against Kingman/Norwich at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Belle Plaine, they will face off against Trinity Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
