Football Game Preview: Independence vs. Palmer

Independence will challenge Palmer on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. If you head out to watch the game, expect to stay the whole 48 minutes: the MaxPreps rankings predict a close match.

Independence took an ego-bruising loss against North Panola two weeks ago, but they kept their chin up and bounced back last Friday. Independence took their match against Holly Springs last Friday 22-12. Sophomore Kylan Garrett and senior R.J. Wilson were among the main playmakers for Independence as the former rushed for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns and the latter rushed for 159 yards and 1 touchdown. Garrett has now scored at least one touchdown in the past four games.

Meanwhile, after flying high against Coahoma Agricultural, Palmer came back down to earth. Palmer were given a punishing 8-48 defeat at the hands of Water Valley. Palmer's low-scoring defeat was the unsatisfying follow-up to their high-scoring outing the contest before.

Independence's win lifted them to 4-4 while Palmer's defeat dropped them down to 2-4. We'll find out if Independence can add another positive mark to their record or if Palmer can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Independence's step.
