Basketball Recap: Edwards County Snags 11th Win in Last 14 Games

Edwards County won the last time they faced Eldorado and things went their way on Friday too. The Edwards County Lions snuck past the Eldorado Eagles with a 39-35 victory. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Eagles are ranked 565th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drayson Grathler, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Stafford, who had eight points.

Edwards County is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Eldorado, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Edwards County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Flora at 5:00 p.m. on January 29th. As for Eldorado, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-46 defeat against Mt. Carmel on the 18th.
