Baseball Recap: Live Oak Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln, Live Oak was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Hill Falcons get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Acorns, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not much got past Bennett Nishikawa, who gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Hill off the board. Nishikawa also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Live Oak is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Live Oak let Jonah Chattha and Branden Behl run wild. Chattha scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Behl went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Chattha is becoming a predictor of Live Oak's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

Live Oak's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Hill, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Live Oak will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
