Recap: Eagle River Wolves vs. Service Cougars
The Eagle River Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Service on the road and fell 65-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eagle River has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Eagle River lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brooklyn Rollman. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and two steals. Rollman has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Service got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aryanna Watson out in front who scored 22 points. Watson is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlierose Lealaisalanos, who scored 18 points.
Eagle River's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Service, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6.
Eagle River will square off against Service at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Service is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eagle River in Alaska (Service is ranked 19th, while Eagle River is ranked 82nd). As for Service, they will take on Eagle River at 6:30 p.m. Service has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
