Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Spring Valley

Spring Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Durango Trailblazers. The Grizzlies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trailblazers, too.

Jack Rieckmann made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rieckmann was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Logan Rose tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Damon Koldesko, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Evan Matheson, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Spring Valley's record is now 4-2-1. As for Durango, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Coming up, Spring Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Cheyenne Mountain at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Durango, they will head out on the road to challenge Bonanza at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
