Softball Game Preview: Vista del Lago Eagles vs. Ponderosa Bruins

The Vista del Lago Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Ponderosa Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Vista del Lago's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Vista del Lago came up short against Woodcreek on Monday, falling 8-2.

Riley Dossey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Ella Dossey also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, Ponderosa came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Falcons 11-4. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Haley Warney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kate McCartney, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Molly McFarland was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Ponderosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Ponderosa now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Vista del Lago, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Vista del Lago came out on top in a nail-biter against Ponderosa in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
