Arroyo suffers eighth straight loss at home

Recap: Arroyo Dons vs. Hayward Farmers

The Arroyo Dons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 14th straight loss. They fell 57-44 to Hayward. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Arroyo in their matchups with Hayward: they've now lost seven in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hayward to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quincy Lavender, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 25 rebounds. Lavender has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Doss, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Arroyo bumped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Hayward, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-9.

Arroyo won't have much time to rest: their next game is against American Canyon on January 20th. American Canyon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Arroyo in California (American Canyon is ranked 163rd, while Arroyo is ranked 1106th). As for Hayward, they will head out on the road to take on Mt. Eden at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
