Basketball Preview: Cambridge Christian Lancers vs. Foundation Christian Academy Panthers

Cambridge Christian is 5-0 against the Panthers since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cambridge Christian Lancers will be staying on the road to face off against the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th.

Cambridge Christian pushed their score all the way to 72 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 78-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Petersburg Catholic. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (58), Cambridge Christian still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Cambridge Christian got a solid performance out of Zay Burton, who scored 26 points. Burton is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Andrew Proffitt was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Meanwhile, Foundation Christian Academy had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 win over Florida College Academy last Saturday. The win was just what Foundation Christian Academy needed coming off of a 65-44 loss in their prior game.

Micah Sanders continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Foundation Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyndale Pittman, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.

Cambridge Christian's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Foundation Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Cambridge Christian strolled past the Panthers when the teams last played back in January by a score of 62-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cambridge Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
