Battle Ground Academy is 0-8 against Columbia Academy since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Wildcats will host the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Battle Ground Academy will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Lawson on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Lightning. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Lightning recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Eily Wolfe made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellery Baisden, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Cooper Corbett was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
Battle Ground Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Columbia Academy got the win against Providence Christian Academy on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1.
Like Battle Ground Academy, Columbia Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Anna Brewer. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Brewer has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Columbia Academy got a massive performance out of Lila Pulley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kinslee Wilhelm, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Columbia Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Battle Ground Academy, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Battle Ground Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Columbia Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Battle Ground Academy couldn't quite get it done against Columbia Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
