Softball Recap: Whitmer Comes Up Short

Whitmer extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Airport Jets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 on Saturday.

Whitmer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Hannibal, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

As for Airport, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games.

On Airport's side, Emma Wehrs was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Tilley, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Whitmer will host Bowling Green at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Airport, they are taking a road trip to challenge Grosse Ile at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
