Volleyball Recap: Macomb Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Macomb and Pleasant Plains squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Macomb had to settle for second. They fell 2-0 to the Cardinals. If the Bombers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in October of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Macomb had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-21.

Jordan Hines paced Macomb's offense, picking up seven kills. Hines got some help from Sophie Wilson and her 17 assists. Finally, Cadence Hotz kept Macomb's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Kendal Guthrie was a one-woman wrecking crew For Pleasant Plains. as she had 20 digs and three assists. Those 20 digs gave Guthrie a new career-high.

Macomb's defeat dropped their record down to 21-15. As for Pleasant Plains, they pushed their record up to 24-12 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Macomb does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pleasant Plains, they will take on Rochester at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
