Basketball Game Preview: Viera Hawks vs. Fayette Ware Wildcats

The Viera Hawks and the Fayette Ware Wildcats will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Fayette Ware is hoping to do what Seminole couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Viera's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Viera walked away with a 65-54 win over Seminole.

Meanwhile, Fayette Ware waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They strolled past the Golden Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 68-49. The Wildcats pushed the score to 56-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golden Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Viera better keep an eye on Tacarien Freeman. He was instrumental in Fayette Ware's win, going 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points and five steals. Freeman is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Elijah Lowe was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Fayette Ware smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 32 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Viera is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Fayette Ware, their record is now an identical 8-3.
