Softball Game Preview: Lawndale Cardinals vs. Beverly Hills Normans

For the second straight game, Lawndale will face off against Beverly Hills. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Normans at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lawndale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Lawndale hadn't beaten Beverly Hills on the road since April 19, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Cardinals blew past the Normans 18-1. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kelly Bailey and Aaliyah Torres were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Bailey pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Torres tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Bailey a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Bailey went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Torres got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that Torres launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Darryn Dean, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Arciniega Lopez, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Beverly Hills is on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10. As for Lawndale, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
