Baseball Game Preview: Peninsula Panthers vs. South Spartans

Peninsula is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will head out to take on the South Spartans at 3:30 p.m. Neither Peninsula nor South posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Peninsula is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since April 17, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against Trabuco Hills, falling 6-0. That makes it the first time this season the Panthers have let down their home crowd.

Peninsula got a good showing from Broden Llamas, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Llamas has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, South fell victim to El Segundo and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0.

South's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Peninsula, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-2-1.

Peninsula couldn't quite get it done against South in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can Peninsula avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
