Basketball Game Preview: Southern Alamance Patriots vs. Asheboro Blue Comets

Southern Alamance is 1-8 against Asheboro since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Southern Alamance Patriots will host the Asheboro Blue Comets at 7:30 p.m. Southern Alamance is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season.

Southern Alamance is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They fell 67-56 to South Granville.

Despite the defeat, Southern Alamance got top-tier performance from Chris Epps, who went 13 of 21 on his way to 27 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Epps is now averaging an impressive 17.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Warren, who posted six points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Asheboro's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Tuesday. They fell just short of Randleman by a score of 45-42. The game marked the Blue Comets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Asheboro fell to 4-1. As for Southern Alamance, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Things could have been worse for Southern Alamance, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-49 loss to Asheboro in their previous meeting back in February of 2021.
