Basketball Recap: Beckett Wall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tumwater over Columbia River

If Tumwater was riding high fresh off their 54-30 takedown of Shelton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tumwater Thunderbirds took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbia River Rapids on Saturday. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rapids apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Tumwater's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Beckett Wall, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 17 points and five boards. Sahara Anthony III was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.

Tumwater's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Columbia River, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tumwater will square off against Washougal at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbia River, they will venture away from home to face off against R.A. Long at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with R.A. Long sitting on 15 straight wins and Columbia River on four.
