Basketball Preview: Taconic Thunder vs. Agawam Brownies
Taconic is 4-0 against the Brownies since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Taconic Thunder will head out on the road to face off against the Agawam Brownies at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of five wins, Taconic's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pittsfield. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Agawam pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pittsfield. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (61), Agawam still had to take the loss.
Taconic's loss ended a 20-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3. As for Agawam, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.
Everything came up roses for Taconic against the Brownies in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 76-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Taconic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
