Basketball Recap: Jordan's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Hillside last Friday, Jordan came back down to earth. The Jordan Falcons took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chapel Hill Tigers on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Jordan lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Caroline Masella, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Masella has posted since back in February of 2024. Olivia Yancey was another key player, putting up nine points.

Chapel Hill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zoe Smith out in front who posted four points in addition to six boards and three steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Gilner, who earned eight points and four steals.

Jordan's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Chapel Hill, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Jordan has already played their next matchup, a 56-11 win against Northern Durham on the 3rd. As for Chapel Hill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-15 victory against Riverside-Durham on the 4th.
