Softball Recap: Washington-Marion's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Washington-Marion can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the LaGrange Gators 19-18. With that victory, the Charging Indians brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.

Kelsi Starland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and 16 unearned) runs off six hits. Starland was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lia Thomas was a standout: she scored six runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (four). Another player making a difference was Karmen LeBlanc, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-5.

Washington-Marion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .540. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Washington-Marion's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for LaGrange, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Washington-Marion and LaGrange will both be playing Eunice the next time they take the field. Washington-Marion will host Eunice at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while LaGrange will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
