Basketball Game Preview: Fremont Eagles vs. Angola Hornets

Fremont hasn't had much luck against Angola recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Fremont Eagles will square off against the Angola Hornets at 1:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Fremont beat Fort Wayne Bishop Luers 46-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Angola). They put the hurt on Lakeland with a sharp 70-44 win back in December of 2024. The victory was nothing new for the Hornets as they're now sitting on four straight.

Angola's win came from a few key players Fremont will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bailey Holman, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Rinard, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

Angola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Fremont is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.3 points. As for Angola, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Fremont couldn't quite finish off Angola in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 48-46. Can Fremont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
