Basketball Recap: Panguitch Takes a Loss

Panguitch was the 70-45 winner over Wayne when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Bobcats took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Badgers on Wednesday.

Despite the loss, Panguitch still got an impressive performance from Trenton Virga, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Virga is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. Kaden Bailey also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Wayne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blake Peterson led the charge by shooting 63% from the field en route to 25 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Peterson has scored at least a third of the Badgers' points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Robins, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Panguitch's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Wayne, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Panguitch will face off against Tintic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wayne, they will take on Altamont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
