Basketball Recap: Lexington Minutemen vs. Crest Ridge Cougars
Lexington lost against Crest Ridge last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lexington Minutemen took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crest Ridge Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Minutemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Cougars are ranked 177th).
Crest Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayley Marten, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Marten also racked up four blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brilynn Fleming, who posted 19 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.
Lexington now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Crest Ridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.
Lexington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-39 loss against Knob Noster on the 1st. As for Crest Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-39 victory against Concordia on the 1st.
