Baseball Recap: North Stokes Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

North Stokes waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the East Wilkes Cardinals as they made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Vikings have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Evan Woods made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Austin Moorefield and Michael Frye did most of the damage at the plate: Moorefield went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Frye went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Frye has posted since back in March of 2024. Cash Dalton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

North Stokes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

North Stokes' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for East Wilkes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

North Stokes has already played their next game, a 5-1 victory against South Stokes on the 17th. As for East Wilkes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 6-4 win against Starmount on the 22nd.
