Preview: Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers vs. Heyworth Hornets
The Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Heyworth Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Mt. Pulaski strolled past Decatur Eisenhower with points to spare, taking the game 58-43. Given Mt. Pulaski's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Decatur Eisenhower is ranked 544th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heyworth has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Calvary Christian Academy by a score of 29-19 on Saturday.
Mt. Pulaski's win bumped their record up to 20-9. As for Heyworth, their win bumped their record up to 9-22.
Mt. Pulaski didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Heyworth when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 43-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mt. Pulaski since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
