After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northeast, Boca Ciega was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They skirted past the Pinellas Park Patriots 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since February 27, 2024.

Jayla Hoptry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Boca Ciega's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Stella Rawlinson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Another was Leah Snyder, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Boca Ciega was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pinellas Park only posted a batting average of .267.

Boca Ciega's win bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Pinellas Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Boca Ciega nor Pinellas Park have any future games scheduled.
