Volleyball Recap: Berwick Bulldogs vs. Crestwood Comets
After flying high against MMI Preparatory School last Tuesday, Berwick came back down to earth. The Berwick Bulldogs fell just short of the Crestwood Comets by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Berwick actually scored more points across those five sets (106-103), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-13.
Berwick lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Julia Rauch, who had 12 digs, two kills, and two blocks. Rauch is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 21 or more in the last nine games she's played dating back to last season. Grace Robbins was another key player, getting 20 kills, seven digs, and three blocks.
Berwick's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-4. As for Crestwood, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Berwick didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win vs. Holy Redeemer on the 1st. As for Crestwood, they will play host again on Wednesday to welcome Tunkhannock, where the match is scheduled at 4:30 p.m.
