Preview: Lompoc Braves vs. Centennial Golden Hawks
The Lompoc Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Centennial Golden Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
While it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Lompoc was not quite Santa Ynez's equal in the second half on Friday. Lompoc fell just short of Santa Ynez by a score of 17-14. Lompoc has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lompoc's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jacob Manzo, who rushed for 12 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 32 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Centennial's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 23-16 to Frontier. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Frontier is ranked 43rd).
Lompoc has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-5.
