Basketball Recap: Fieldcrest Starts Season with Win on the Road

Fieldcrest had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 56-44 win over the Flanagan/Woodland Falcons. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 64-63 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Macy Gochanour had an outrageously good game as she went 10-for-23 en route to 26 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of TeriLynn Timmerman, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Flanagan/Woodland lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Emma Palaschak, who scored 18 points along with seven boards and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Ava Price was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Coming up, Fieldcrest won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Flanagan/Woodland has already played their next contest (against Manual), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
