Baseball Game Preview: Perrysburg Yellow Jackets vs. Anthony Wayne Generals

Perrysburg hasn't had much luck against Anthony Wayne recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Yellow Jackets will welcome the Generals at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Perrysburg 2.3, Anthony Wayne 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Perrysburg barely beat Napoleon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-4 win on Friday. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Perrysburg got a great performance from Aaron Banks as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Banks a new career-high.

At the plate, Lucas Graham was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Brayden Heitmeyer was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Perrysburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Napoleon only posted an OBP of .300.

Meanwhile, Anthony Wayne waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Blue Streaks.

Anthony Wayne pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Perrysburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Perrysburg might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Anthony Wayne when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
