Baseball Game Preview: Watsonville Wildcatz vs. Pajaro Valley Grizzlies

Watsonville has gone 9-1 against Pajaro Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Wildcatz will host the Grizzlies at 12:30 p.m. Watsonville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Watsonville came up short against San Lorenzo Valley and fell 6-3. The Wildcatz haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Rudy Valdez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Watsonville is 9-4 when Valdez posts two or more runs, but 0-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathew Silva, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Pajaro Valley and Marina meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Mariners by a score of 5-3.

Watsonville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Pajaro Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything went Watsonville's way against Pajaro Valley in their previous meeting back in April, as Watsonville made off with a 13-2 victory. Do the Wildcatz have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
