Volleyball Recap: Eastbrook Comes Up Short

Eastbrook was the 3-0 winner over Monroe Central when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers fell just short of the Golden Bears by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Golden Bears 25-19 in the first set.

While Eastbrook ultimately came up short, they really made Monroe Central work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 19-25, 26-24, 25-20, 29-31, 15-13.

Bristol Brodkorb paced Eastbrook's offense, picking up nine kills. Brodkorb got some help from Sloan Brown and her 23 assists. Brodkorb also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Addie Rust, each putting up four.

Sophia Bolton had a dynamite game For Monroe Central., getting 31 digs. Those 31 digs gave Bolton a new career-high.

Eastbrook now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Monroe Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-17.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastbrook will welcome Blackford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Monroe Central, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Randolph Southern at 6:00 p.m.
