Basketball Game Preview: Irvington Vikings vs. American Eagles

Irvington is on a three-game streak of home losses, American a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Irvington Vikings will host the American Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Irvington is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Moreau Catholic on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Irvington was dealt a 76-43 defeat at the hands of Moreau Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 791st, while the Mariners are ranked 53rd).

Meanwhile, American came up short against Kennedy on Tuesday and fell 70-60.

Irvington's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for American, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Irvington was able to grind out a solid win over American in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 65-54. Will Irvington repeat their success, or does American have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
