Football Game Preview: Starr's Mill Panthers vs. Central Lions + How To Watch

The Starr's Mill Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Central Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Starr's Mill is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Mundy's Mill on Friday. The Panthers took down the Tigers 38-19. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Central is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Jonesboro on Thursday, but Jonesboro came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 victory over the Cardinals. Those 24 points were actually the fewest the Lions have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Central's win came from a few key players Starr's Mill will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was JR Harris, who threw for 173 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 79 yards on only ten carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August of 2024. Jake Ivester also made an appearance on special teams (luckily for Central): his a 48-yard strike wound up winning them the game.

Starr's Mill's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Starr's Mill came out on top in a nail-biter against Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 38-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
