Baseball Recap: North Hunterdon Lions vs. Hopewell Valley Central Bulldogs
North Hunterdon took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. Everything went their way against the Hopewell Valley Central Bulldogs as North Hunterdon made off with a 9-1 win.
Brandon Suler tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Jadon Krisanda and Zach Linzer did most of the damage at the plate: Krisanda scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Linzer scored a run while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Kane, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
North Hunterdon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hopewell Valley Central only posted an OBP of .261.
Hopewell Valley Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1.
Looking ahead, North Hunterdon will host Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give North Hunterdon their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Hopewell Valley Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Trenton Central at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
