Softball Recap: Tri-County Penguins vs. Pacelli Cardinals
Tri-County had lost eight straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-14 to make it nine. They came up short against the Pacelli Cardinals, falling 15-0. If the Penguins were looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Pacelli, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-4-1. Considering they have won 11 games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Pacelli's part, Amelia Martini was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Martini has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten contests.
In other batting news, Ella Van Order was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Jaedyn Zdroik was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Tri-County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-10 victory against Mauston on the 19th. As for Pacelli, they have also already played their next game, a 1-0 win against Poynette on the 19th.
