Dorian Daniel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Clay-Chalkville got a big performance out of Semaj Snow, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, Snow posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kayden Lee, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mortimer Jordan fell victim to Har-Ber and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to the Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Blue Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Mortimer Jordan has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season. Clay-Chalkville's win bumped their record up to 5-11.
Clay-Chalkville's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. Clay-Chalkville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mortimer Jordan, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Clay-Chalkville continue to outrun the ball?
